Professor Aalai has been full-time faculty with the Psychology department since 2009.

She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at The George Washington University in Washington, DC., her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and her PhD in applied social psychology from Loyola University Chicago.

Her research interests include media portrayals during times of war, media effects on public opinion, psychological underpinnings to violence, warfare, & genocide, and cultural & gender studies.

She is a regular contributor to Psychology Today, in addition to other writing ventures.

Dr Aalai was grateful to be invited to teach for the Renaissance Scholars Program during the Spring 2013 semester. She found the experience to be both challenging and transformative.

The dedication from both students and faculty involved with the program, the genuine intellectual curiosity and excitement shared by both students and faculty, and the opportunity to share in interdisciplinary collaboration and to join this community at MC have been transformative.

The way that this program has the potential to enhance one’s academic performance and experience at the college cannot be overstated

Azadeh Aalai, Ph.D., is a tenure-track, assistant professor of Psychology at Queensborough Community College in New York.

She has also served as an associate professor at her alma mater, The George Washington University. She is the author of Understanding Aggression: Psychological Origins & Approaches to Aggressive Behavior.

Bio: Azadeh Aalai, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of psychology at Queensborough Community College (QCC), CUNY.

She is a social psychologist specializing in mass media depictions, the psychology of aggression, warfare and genocide, and gender-related studies.

In addition to her full-time tenure track position, she is an adjunct assistant professor for the M.A. program in Psychology at New York University and a regular contributor for Psychology Today.

She is also the NEH scholar-in-residence at the Kupferberg Holocaust Center at QCC during the 2017-2018 academic year.
